Fueling up for a healthy life!

Weekend Edition: Jan 14, 2018

January 14, 2018

It’s a long weekend for a lot of people, but I’ll be getting up and heading to work tomorrow.  So, my weekend edition of the blog comes today. 🙂

We’ve had an interesting weekend.  First, the weather had a serious case of schizophrenia.  On Friday it was 70 degrees and today we probably won’t get above 25.  I’ve also been struggling to get over some bug for the past few days.  I’m happy that today I felt much better and was able to get a light workout in.  But overall, we’ve enjoyed some R&R.  Let’s get on to the Weekend Edition, where I share random things that have happened during the last week, things I’ve read, watched, listened to, or just plain love.

Last night, we saw “The Post” with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.  Honestly, I could watch any movie with Tom Hanks, but it was truly a good story and one that is very timely.  I highly recommend seeing it, whether in theaters or when it comes out ON-Demand.

Podcasts are the new TV for me.  I’d rather be getting a few things done around the house, cooking, or going for a walk while listening to a podcast than sitting down to watch TV.  The School of Greatness has been a fun one for getting ready in the morning and heading into work.  It gets me motivated for a productive day.

Two worlds collided for me this week: my love of Fixer Upper and running.  Chip Gaines is running a marathon!  ICYMI, check it out.  My fan girl status has exploded.

Last, I thought it might be fun to highlight a few of my favorite things during each Weekend Edition.  Let me know what you think!

1. Stabilo Pens.  With my obsession of my Commit30 planner, these pens help me take planning and organizing to a whole new level.

2. Beyond Grit.  I’m reading this for a book club that my coaches, Julie and Lisa, are hosting.  I usually have one non-fiction and one fiction book going at the same time.  This is a great book to start the year with as we all head into goals that may feel a little too big for us.

3. Four Sigmatic.  I’m not a huge mushroom fan, so at first the thought of mushroom coffee turned my stomach.  Trust…there’s no mushroom flavor AT ALL.  The Lions Mane and Chaga blend by Four Sigmatic is my fave.  I drink it after lunch and it fights off the 3pm slump and helps me stay productive through the afternoon.  I also haven’t experienced any issues sleeping at night (I don’t drink it past 4pm).  If you want to try, I recommend going through Thrive Market (link is an affiliate link)

4.  Letter Board.  Ok, this is just cute.  I’ve seen them all over social media and caved.  I love the idea of having an inspirational quote, joke, or sweet note in our main living space.  This is the one I purchased.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend, whether you have tomorrow off or not!
