My Health Time Capsule

by Melissa on April 3, 2012

I’m still very excited about my acceptance into a dietetic internship!  I received my first welcome email this morning which makes everything more real.  This is the start people!  Crazy :)

You probably read the title of this post and wondered what the heck I was writing about…admit it, you’re curious!

Well, WEGO Health is providing a challenge called “Health Activists Writers Month Challenge” where they provide 30 prompts for the month of April.  It’s a time for us to get a little more creative with the information that we provide.  I’ve read over the prompts and they are very fun and creative!  I’m excited to blog about them :)

Today’s Prompt:

Pretend you are making a time capsule of you and your health focus that won’t be opened until 2112.  What’s in it? What would people think of it when they found it?

This is an interesting prompt.  But I’m pretty sure I know what I would put into my own health time capsule that would wrap up my idea of health ideas!

Well duh.  Running shoes.  Very bright running shoes to be exact.  I would hope then when the time capsule is opened they will think being active was important to this person.

Also, being active doesn’t necessarily mean being soaked in sweat and gross.  You can include a little bit of style and femininity into working out.

NUMBER TWO:

and

Some cookbooks.  Vegetarian and cookies…odd combo eh?  Not for me!  I believe in moderation versus deprivation.  Eating healthy means taking care of your health needs along with enjoying your food.  If you enjoy eating cookies, eat one cookie.  Then eat some veggie ;)

NUMBER THREE:

A yoga mat.  The yoga mat for me encompasses my physical and mental health.  Taking care of your body is one thing, but you must be able to harness your mind.  What you think creates your world.

NUMBER FOUR:

My last item would be one of my newest editions to my health repertoire.  Yogi Tea is an item that I hope would explain my need to heal myself naturally versus always relying on Western medicine.  Downing honey to calm my allergies, menthol to help a cough, and steam for a cold.  The above tea helps my tummy aches and is soothing during illness.

What would be in your health time capsule?

I loved the message in my Yogi tea today.

Seemed to fit life lately :)
