Crazy Sexy Challenge

by Melissa on July 8, 2012

Sometimes you need a change.  A reboot.  A way to put everything back into perspective.

That’s what I am doing with my diet this week.

I have owned Crazy Sexy Diet for awhile now, but just now decided to take a plunge to put some of her ideas into action.  Kris’s take on getting rid of the crap and examining what we are really putting into our bodies is fun and sassy.

Here’s the gist of it:

  • Say goodbye to sugar, coffee, and alcohol
  • Get rid of gluten, or most gluten
  • No tushie or milk mustaches (aka no animal or animal products)
  • Lots of green juice and smoothies
  • Move daily (I can handle that one!)

So today, I stocked up!  It will take a certain fridge and pantry to make this happen.

My Crazy Sexy Fridge:  oranges, cucumber, canteloupe, apples, berries, romaine, kale, peppers, sprouts, broccoli

A few gluten free products: brown rice, multi seed crackers, millet, and black rice.  Bananas, nectarines, garlic…more produce!

You may be wondering how much it costs to stock up a fridge for the Crazy Sexy Challenge…and I admit I was worried about that as well.

Cost:  $65  which for me, is a typical week at the grocery store.  I have a lot of pantry staples and spices, so it was mostly perishables and a few other items.

JUICING

I had never made green juice before, so after putting all the groceries away, I got down and dirty Winking smile

make juice

As Kris says…”Make Juice, not War”.

Tips for Juicing: Put a bag in the waste disposal bucket.  It makes clean up super easy!  Also, put a paper towel under your cup.  It will drip slightly.

Eat on the Run’s First Green Juice!

Two thumbs up!  I added 1/4 tsp of stevia to take the edge off, however, I’m not quite sure I needed it.  The taste was fresh and crisp, and it smelled like a salad Smile  This might be a really fun way to add more veggies into my diet.

For dinner, I was craving a something filling and tasty.

Roasted brussel sprouts, brown rice, and chickpeas in a tomato and onion sauce hit the spot.

And because I’m still recovering from my sugar addiction, I had granola for dessert.  I’d say this is a much better alternative to red velvet cake.

DAY 1 Thoughts:

I think I did pretty well for my first day.  I woke up and had my coffee, which is a no no on the challenge, so tomorrow I will do better.  It is all about getting yourself into a healthy and happy state.  I hope to find a balance of these eating habits that will fit into my lifestyle and make me feel by best!

sounds like you’re in for a fabulous week – i’m jealous of your fridge! however i’d probably struggle going completely coffee-less…

good luck!

I’m about ready for the challenge, but don’t feel like buying a juicer quite yet. I’ve been adding a heck of a lot more veggies into my diet and cutting out meat most meals of the week, so I’ll say that’s a good start for now hehe

I don’t think you need a juicer for the challenge. Having a really good blender to make green smoothies would be just as great!

I think you’ve just inspired me to start adding more leafy greens to my juices!

You should! I’d start with spinach or romaine as they are really mild. I’m working on adding more kale to it.
