Oh my goodness – can you believe it’s already November!? Since 2015, I’ve set at New Year’s Resolution to read 12 books each year (one per month). So far, I haven’t completed my resolution and honestly that’s not the point. I love to read, but I sometimes struggle to find the time. This resolution helps keep me accountable and reminds me to put down the phone each evening and pick up my book, even if just for 5 minutes. Reading before bed helps me fall asleep more quickly and have a more restful night of sleep. I’m a pretty anxious person, and escaping through a book helps to calm the constant barrage of thoughts going through my head.
This year started off pretty slow with reading. We spent the first 3 months of 2017 in a home search and then eventually moving into our townhome. I still have to do a blog post about that! However, since then, I’ve been reading an assortment of books. I’ve loved getting recommendations this year and have been following along with Lindsey Hein’s book club and Reese Witherspoon’s book club. Here’s the line up so far:

This year I also purchased a Kindle! It’s been worth every penny. I love that I can take multiple books with me and switch between non-fiction and fiction pretty easily. Plus, when Devin wants to sleep, I can turn out my light and keep the backlight on low to keep reading. Also, I can download a sample of a book to determine if I will actually like it. That has saved me so far from two books that I definitely wouldn’t have made it further than the first 30 pages. If you’ve been on the fence, I highly recommend it.
